I Need Help!!!!

I need YOUR HELP BEFORE I TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP!!! Heres the story and i need answers, I am very upset with my 2002 Superduty with a 5.4!! I was going to town and i live on a gravel road. Well i was going around 25 30 mph on the gravel road and a dog ran out in front of me, So i slamed on the brakes and i missed it. But i was thinking the pedal was very spongy, so i hit it again and it skidded. It has ABS and im pretty sure that wasnt suppose to happen. Well i didnt think anything of it and i got onto the main paved road. Well it went through the gears and when it shifted into overdrive it started to shake REALLY BAD. So i slamed on the gas and it seams very doggy. So i let it shift back into overdrive and it did it again, So i looked at the guages and slamed on the gas and my Speedo drops down and then picks back up and my ABS light comes on. I got an appointment for monday to get it in but i dont feel like putting up with there stuff so i came here wanting help. I bought this truck used a year ago with no warrenty from the same dealership and so far i had a new brake job, New front sway bar end links ( I got accused for jumping the dang thing) and now this bullcrap. Im really worried about the motor being blown because if i let it sit for a day and i go to start it up and it blows black smoke. It has 80,000 miles on it and i change the oil every 3,000 miles. So again please help!!!

Welcome to FTE!

I am thinking possibly a defective VSS (vehicle speed sensor). It is located on the top of the rear differential. About a $20.00 replacement...will effect the ABS...

As for the black smoke issue...HAVE you ever done a tune-up on your 5.4L? Spark plugs and boots? Before doing that...pay the extra cash and ask the dealer to read your PCM and see if any codes present for a running rich condition.

See ya in the forums!

Yea but would that cause the truck to shake in overdrive?? and also when you turn the key on the run position it has a click and then after that a grinding noise. Theres a time laps of about 5 seconds after u turn the key on so i was turning it to the run position and running to the engine compartment and i found out the noise is coming from that box where the two lines come off the master cylinder and runs into that. Thats the thing thats making the grinding noise and as for the click i dont know where thats coming from.

sounds like the abs wheel speed sensor is going out in the rear diff. within the smoking deal i hate to say that maybe be normal. alot of 4.6 and 5.4 engine trucks smoke upon startup for like a few seconds. no fix for that concern.

That could be the IAC (Idle Air Control). It is a sensor that replaced what a choke did on a carb. Also, your MAF sensor could be dirty. Remove both...and clean with electronic's cleaner. Re-install...and see if that helps. If not, then you will need to replace the IAC sensor.

Sometimes they just do. IMHO...your best bet is to have the PCM read for codes. If that does not help, then an on-board reader for real time diagnostics.

yea well im just gonna take it in. at least i know what i know wut to look for. there is another question, I pulled out a jeep and then i turned onto a main road and it started to make a noice like a siren. It was rly annoying and very loud. It sounded like it was comin from the passenger side. And if i turned it rly hard it would stop, most of the time it would stop. I noticed it would only do this when i would pull something heavy. what would cause this. i was in 4x4
