Has anyone acutually figured out a way to cure the 5.4 misfire problem? because my has really been acting up lately,and yes i have cleaned the maf,and did nothing for the problem?

 

Are you getting any codes? Sounds like a failing COP to me.

 

Time to get the misfire counters read at a good auto shop
How many miles on this 5.4?
Have you changed plugs yet ? and boots?
Have you looked for water in the sparkplug holes?
Yes as stated cop's do fail on these engines.

I have not taken my truck in to anybody yet.I just dont want to replace parts that are going to fix the problem.What does cop stand for? Iam by no means a mechanic! Ineed guys like you to help me figure it out so i can tell someone who can fix it.

Oh the truck has 83,000 miles on it.

 

Coil on Plug

The design of the modular 5.4 has a coil for every sparkplug it actually sits on top of it. No sparkplug wires anymore.Under the coil is a boot thta protects the spring connection to the plug and will prevent moisture from shorting out the plug .
But because of heat build up .The coils go bad and the boots burn up.
