I Believe they are High Intensity Discharge "HID" Lights. You will have to get a retrofit kit for those. It just is not a bulb replacement. Now Sylvania has the SIlverstars out for the 05's...here are some of the Sylvania part Numbers...
High & low beam headlamp
H13 (9008)
H13ST Silverstar High Performance Lighting: The Whiter and Brighter Halogen
H13XV XtraVision Halogen Upgrade: Up to 20% Brighter
Now for an HID retrofit you will be looking at a couple of Hundred Bucks easy.
I beleive is300wrx Installed an HID Retrofit kit in his truck. You might want to ask him some information on this.
Actually they aren't making the 9008ST (silverstars) yet. Here is a letter that I just got from Sylivania this week after I inquired about them.
Good Afternoon Mr. Schindler,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Part H13, also known as 9008, is not currently available in a SilverStar upgrade. We have received many requests for this part in a SilverStar upgrade, but we were unable to begin developing this part in a SilverStar upgrade until just recently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote into the original specification for this part that the glass capsule portion of the lamp must remain a clear quartz glass. Part of upgrading a part to SilverStar is coating the capsule with an amethyst colored enamel. NHTSA had specified that we could not do that to this part. We appealed this standard through NHTSA, resulting in a change in the wording, allowing us to finally offer a SilverStar upgrade for this part, but this part is still under development. We are hoping to launch this part sometime in the late fall to early winter timeframe. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any other questions or require further assistance.
I got HIDs in my truck. Check out my avatar. Its really small, but it give you an idea of how bright they are. They do throw off a glare, but if you aim them as low as they go, then you have no problem. Too bad no one makes projectors for HIDs...all the ones off eBay are meant for halogen and those projectors do not give enough room for HID bulbs to fit. I seen a guy retrofit a Lexus Ls430 projectors into the Ford F-150 OEM housing....lots of time/skill/money, but he did it the right way and it looks nice.
where did you get your HID's? Did you sacrifice your high beams? I have found a few manufactures who sell HID kits for our truck that use the xenon low beam with a halogen high beam....I just can't find anyone who has the kit to tell me how well they work.
I have seen Hi/Low HID kits out there...you just gotta look for them. I myself never use High Beams other then to Signal flash so I myself would not miss them.
