Blinking Transmission Control Indicator Light
I have a 1996 F350 dually with a 7.3 and E4OD tranny. The Transmission Control Indicator Light (Overdrive "OFF") started to blink. Is there anything I can check before taking the truck to the shop?

Take it to Autozone or Advance and have them pull the computer codes. That light blinking indicates that the transmission has detected an error and the code is waiting in the computer.

Not always will it show a code. Mine is doing the same thing the OD light will blink but it is not showing any code at all. Chances are your system is OBDI like mine I have a 97 F250HD if that is the case good luck. Mine has been in the shop a couple of times already and they cant get it to give them a code.
If it is bothering you disconnect the Neg terminal and it will clear the problem. So far I believe that I have it traced down to either the TPS or the VSS sensors.
