Guys,
Help me if you can.I have a 54 f100 with a 55 239(EBV 6015) and loadamatic dizzy. I bought a 57 rebuilt dizzy(for a 272) from Advance Auto to put into this motor. The end of the shaft that drives the oil pump is different. The 55 dizzy has a male end and the 57 a female end. My son-in-law ,at the Ford dealer, says the shafts cannot be swapped. I can't post pictures but I can email pictures to show what I mean. What am I doing wrong! I am going to post this on the y Block forum as well. Thanks in advance for any and all that can help with this.
Mike

I changed the dist on my 54 merc car 256 cu in Y block. The 54 dist shaft had a tang (flat thin wide tip) that engaged the oil pump. The new dist (suppost to be a 57 but who really knows) required a hex dist shaft and a 57 or later oil pump that will take the hex shaft. Oil pump install was a real pain but the dist works just fine.
I wouldn't think so. Just buy a oil pump for a 272/292 and you will be good to go. At least thats what i did. Now please remember I did this on a 256 cu in engine that is installed in a 54 mercury car, That was the reason for the oil pump being a pain (no room under car).
