Carb Problems?
I am buying a '79 F150 from a buddy and were havin some problems to get it to move. It will start only after you pour a little gas in the carb. Then it will idle, but just barely, and if you don't give it gas every once in a while, then it will die. I tried to move it forward yesterday for the first time (it had been sitting for 2 years) and it would just stall out. (Its an automatic BTW). So I tried revving it up and then putting it into gear to see if that would help, but it would just jump forward a bit and then stop. It really sounds as if the engine can't take any load...and the tranny was rebuilt recently, so its not that. My buddy and I think it's the carb. It's my first carbed motor so I'm not sure what to look for and how to tune it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel restriction issue. Verify you are getting fuel to the carb. Check any fuel filters and you may find that the carb is full of varnish and plugged up internally. How old is the gas?
