Since I bought my 1994 F-150, I've noticed that at times, with the wiper switch turned on the first or second notch, the blades will swipe a time or two, then they'll stop until you turn the switch all the way off and on again.
Well, a few weeks ago when I delivered a car to Michigan, it started raining on me in Southern Indiana, and the wipers wouldn't come on at all... I kept ''fi-jiddlin'' with the switch, and they FINALLY came on.
I have heard of this "module" behind the glovebox that could be the culprit, but I'm also wondering if it might be the wiper motor itself??
The motor doesn't really make any noise until it's on high, and it whines pretty bad, but nothing that the radio won't drown out.
I'm trying to figure out what it is while the truck is torn down, and hopefully I can get it fixed before we shoot the paint...
If you have interval wipers, have you tried cleaning the contacts?
You can use a pen knife to lift the endcap off the lever and you'll see the screw you need to remove, then it will slide right out.
Mine does this in about the same place but I like it like that; I can then tap it with my pinky while driving and it will pulse the wipers for me...LOL
i am glad someone has a post going on this...i am going to follow it for a while. i am having roughly the same problem...they don't work at all but they click when i turn the ****. for some reason, the wipers have been the last on my "To fix" list....i find that if it starts to rain, if you speed up, the rain kinda blows off..... if i can't fix it by peeping in on this thread, ill start my own. i don't want to be a thread stealer! good luck.
