Lowering blocks?

Is there any reason why lowering blocks wouldnt work to drop the rear, maybe even the front, of an F1? For cars obviously it's fine, but I've never heard of someone dropping a truck with em. Thanks.

I don't see why not...as long as the axle is over the springs which is not the case for F1s front or rear; but, if you move the axle over the springs it's usually so low already that you need a C-notch. Lowering blocks work best under cars which have springs with more arch in them. Trucks have flatter springs.

Go look at your axle/spring geometry. If you add blocks between them, you'll raise the truck instead of lowering it...........or what Vern said.

For blocks to work you have to start with the axle above the spring pack. Move the axle over the spring pack on one of these trucks and you've already got over 5" of drop. Want it lower? Now add blocks. Remember to notch the frame (and adjust the bed floor) so you don't bottom out.

What Tim said...

There is no reason you cannot use them. It's just that after you move the axle above the springs the drop is so much already that you probably would not want to lower it further...unless you used different springs that have a lot of arch to them. I used Chrysler rear springs on my truck and installed it with the axle above the springs as it was in the original donor car. Because of the greater arch in the springs I think I'll be able to avoid a C-notch but there's no way I would want to use lowering blocks and get into having to raise the bed floor.
