1997 Fuel Tank Float

Hey Everyone, I discovered a crack in my float today after pulling the sending unit from the midship tank on my 1997 f350 diesel. Ford wants $230 for replacement sender/float/pickup combo. So I was wondering if any of you had a source for a replacement float or perhaps an idea on what would seal up that crack? I tried local auto parts stores already.

If it's brass you can solder it. NO OPEN flames please. LOL
Really, It's not that difficult to do. Make sure all the liquid (fuel) is gone b4 fixing it.
