I do not think so. My AWD does not have 4-low and does not rely on the center differential (transfer case) being engaged in a mechanical fashion (it uses a limited slip) so that all four wheels always have power on them at all time (30/70 split). The auto 4WD is 100% in the rear until the vehicle detects slip and then it locks the transfer case for 50/50 split (I think, someone may correct me on that). So, in effect you do get power when you need it, it's just not at all four wheels all the time.
