Have a couple of questions.
1. What enhancements must be done to allow a 360 to 460 swap on an F 600? I think a 390 will bolt up with not changes. How much more HP are we talking about.
2. The F600 has a dump body and the 360 in it now runs fine. Only problem is not enough guts to pull the backhoe. I have a standard 4 speed with a 2 speed rear end. My kids gokart h as more power than the F600.
Are you sure that's a 360? According to my source Ford only originally installed the following V-8 engines in a 1968 F600: 300 330 MD, 330HD and 361. I suspect you have a 361 unless someone already modified the truck. If you believe it's original post the 4th digit from your vin and I'll decode the engine.
Assuming you have a 361 or if it's really a 360 then you can easily go to their big brothers, the 391 or the 390 respectively. Either one will give you plenty of power if properly tuned and in good condition. I have an F800 with a 391 which I rebuilt 4 years ago. It is plenty of motor. (I also have a good 391 in a 72 bus for sale if interested email me privately). I hope this helps.

I agree with stockman. A 391 is a simpiler choice and will give you plenty power. Easiest way to identify a 361 or 391 is the size of the crank snout. They are much larger than there brothers the 360 and 390. The internal changes were the industrial motors used steel cranks, the blocks were reinforced and they were built for low rpm power. If you were going to go to the trouble of adapting another type of motor into your F600 than I would opt for the 7.3 Diesel. The change is not complicated. If you can install the 460 than the 7.3 is not much more involved. Rick
