Torsion Lift

I am wanting to lift up the front end of my truck by tweaking the bars, i saw a post about this the other day, but had a few questions that i was hoping you all could answer. I have a 99 f250LD. First off, those who have done it, have you noticed any weird affects from it, like unusual tire wear, or anything like that?

Secondly, i am a little unsure how to do it, is there anyone or any place that has/could help me out with a few pointers on what to do and how long it would take. any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

As long as you are just cranking the torsion bars and not install new torsion bar keys all you gotta do is jack it up (and put on jack stands of course) and tighten the bolt on each key. And the point of jacking the truck up is to unload the force on the torsion bars so you'll want to have the tires off the ground, not just raised. Have to get it realigned after you are done though.

Jack up the truck, place jack stands under the frame. Spray some penetrating oil on the adjusting bolts. Get a 25" breaker bar with an 18mm socket, and turn the bolts clockwise in equal amounts. I thought I'd give it a try on my truck last fall. I got under there and thought to myself, "What the heck? the bolts aren't THAT long, I'll just crank them all the way up " Well, I couldn't see over the hood. You only need to turn them about 3-4 turns. Since then I've returned it to stock height. Rob

Jacking the truck with the tortion bolts makes for an even bumpier ride on the dirt roads.

The 250LD has a stiff suspension and should have 'D' rated tires as well... you're gonna feel every bump if you don't already.

Just food for thought.

go there, great forum. Read up and look at pics and that should answer all your questions. Yes it is a chevy, but set-up is the same. He is actually installing Ford keys on the chevy.
