This ain't a GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR when driving ( which i love the sound of ). It's a loud hum like a trumpet when the car is idle or has just been started. Could it be a vacuum problem, because if you put your hand near the filter it feels like it's sucking. If it's this how do i fix it? thx
I had the same issue with my old expedition 5.4. After about a week of pulling my hair out I found the problem. The elbow on my vaccuum line for what I believe was my pcv valve(runs from the valve cover to the rear of the manifold) the elbow on it which is supposed to be a hard plasic was replaced by a section of hose. It got hot, and weak, then collapsed so to speak and was pinching together causing a trumpet sound like you said. If you hit the throttle does it stop? When you hit the throttle it by passes that valve thats how i narrowed mine down. good luck on your annoying adventure and keep us updated.
