Alternator problem update
Many of us have had problems with the Alt. charging at high rpm and the battery light on. One of the first line repairs is to replace the Alt. Some have suggested replacing the brushes.
I just replaced the brushes. $20. There is a catch though!!! The rotor that the brushes ride on gets worn and grooved. This is often a cause for failure in addition to the brushes as there is a lack of contact area. I took some 320grit paper and sanded the two worn areas as smooth as possible. So far it's working well. I did take pictures so if I need to do a write up it's possible.
