Hello all. I'm have a bit of a dust/dirt problem that I need to address. I used to love opening up the hood because I could marvel at just how clean everything was inside... things were so clean that they almost looked brand new. However, since moving back to Albuquerque things are different. After a typical spring of wind storms I have now found that everything under the hood is covered in a layer of dust and dirt. What's the best way to get all of that dust outta there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Using compressed air (air nozzle attached to a compressed air line) works great to get the dust off. If you don't have a compressor maybe you find a friend that has one. Just be careful not to use too high a pressure and don't blast anything that looks expensive at too close a range.

I use a garden hose. I have the same prob with my 92 E-150. I clean it off about once every 2 months or so. The only thing you need to be aware of is the fuse box located under the master brake cylinder. After hosing her down you can blow it off. Or just go get some spray wax from you local parts store. After you clean it spray some of that on the engine compartment. (That will help keep the water off witch attracts the dirt to stick.)
Hope this helps
