on a 2000 f350 is it possible to use the factory pull out fog light switch to hook up after market fog lights, the truck didnt come with fog lights factory. if this is possible to to and if so how do you do it? also the battery wont charge in my trailer it is not sending power through the trailer plug what would cause this? any help would be appreicated thanks
I looked into this with my '05 Ex and a friend's 99 SD. The headlight switch used for a fog light truck is different than one that did not leave the plant with foglamps. The harness in the dash and the plug for the switch is different.
The Ford foglight kit comes with a switch. I did not like the switch and installed a different one. You could also bury the foglight switch somewhere as if you are like me, you'll want them on all the time anyhow. They will come on and off with the parking lights if you use the Ford kit. (Or tap the brown wire on the headlight switch as a trigger)
As far as the trailer hot feed...I cannot remember which pin it is on the trailer plug, but it's possible that there is a mis-match between your truck and trailer. There are two relays under the hood that feed the left and right trailer brake and turn signals.
