Warning Bells going off...
Hi all, I've been lurking here for a quite a while and just registered based on my purchase of an 05 F350 XLT PSD 4x4 SRW yesterday. I go to close the transaction tomorrow, but now I'm not so sure. The truck came from TX, was registered in 9/04, the CarFax is clean, and it has 40,125 miles on it. Sounds low, but I just found out it has been at this dealer for a while and when they first listed it, it had 39,645 miles on it. Almost 500 miles in test drives and no one wanted it? I wanted the TowCommander option for my 5th, but it didn't have it so they took $1k off for a total off $32K. I thought this was a very good deal from what I've seen them for, but based on the time there and the additional miles on it, I'm wondering now if I'm buying someone else's problem. Should I be able to ask for all Ford service records they have on this truck? Should they be able to produce them? It's a nice, clean truck and I'm hoping it's the dream truck I've waited years to buy. I'd appreciate any advice. Paranoia is also an option.

One of the salesman may have used it for a few days. If you like the truck I wouldn't sweat the 500 miles. Ask for an Oasis report though, that should set your mind at ease - or get you to run, not walk away.............

vloney, thanks a ton(!). I think I feel a lot better. I also bought the extended warranty and the dealer says they will certify the truck to 100k or 4yrs for pretty much anything mechanical, but who has the time. I'll also ask them to make sure it's maintained to 40k and that all seals, ball joints, turbo and EGR, etc. are up to spec. The truck was made for hauling so I stilll have some concerns. This is a great group, and you are part of it, and I truly appreciate the help.

Are you refering to TotalCommand? It doesn't have it and it's what I'm looking for with a 10k tow. Are you saying I'm better of without it? I was ready to tell them to put it in or forget it. It has the rest with heated mirror extentions, upper cab lights, etc. I have the dealer URL to show you, but I can't post it.
