Front hub issues.
Had some noises up front and went to pull the front end apart to inspect. The hubs seemed to fit loose (Warn lower end model) even though the allen screws seemed tight enough. Took them off and had huge issues, allen screws stripping out, and finally just said Removed by Admin: inappropriate comment for a family site l it and took a drill/grinder to it, and bought new premium Warn hubs.
The grinding work I did was just on the outter assembly, didn't touch anything outside of that. The new hubs don't fit much differently then the old ones, and they don't appear to be engaging. I lifted a tire, post assembly, locked and unlocked the hub, and I couldn't get the drivetrain to move in either position when I spun the tire. (per manu. directions).
I haven't used the 4x4 in the truck yet, so I don't know that they were working with the old hubs. I disassembled/put it all back together the exact same way (not anything to it).
Now what? I'm wondering if this truck had the auto hubs, they changed them to manual, but didn't get all the right parts? I'm working on finding an exploded view of the hub to make sure everything is in there...
