An 82 should be the normal solid frame, not the swiss cheese one.
The BOM for the front axle(610185-8) according to Dana's expert( http://www2.dana.com/expert ) is "FORD Model 44IFS FRONT 1981 - 1982 BRONCO II & F-150" 3.00 ratio, standard differential.
A C6, 208 and 9" are correct for an 82, date code on the 9" is March 31 1982.
As for a part being stamped E1, that only means that was the year the basic major design of it was put into use. For example, the factory 460 in my 86 has a D9 engineering code block.
As for your 302, it's 94 or newer, which, if anything means it should be roller cam.
And, for the body VIN:
1FT: Ford Motor company USA, Truck(complete vehicle)
D: Hydraulic brakes, Class D GVWR range, 5001-6000 LBS
F15: F150 regular cab, 2wd
N: 302
1: check digit
F: 1985 model year
K: Kansas City plant
A59839: sequence number.
Havi, I believe that you're right. 1982 frame, running gear and driveline except for the engine and possibly the transmission.
I'm confident that if I buy a lift kit for a 1982 model F150 I'll have all the right gear to get it up in the air. The high gears don't really thrill me but I guess that's going on the list of things to come.
Well, I'm confident that that's finally settled, now does anyone have any advice on what type of wood would best be used to replace the cheap UNTREATED plywood someone used for the bed floor?
82F100SWB, I think I have a 351W in there now. I am not positive. I've been trying to make sure. It has 6 valve cover bolts. The fuel pump has bolts on either side of the pump, the thermostat is at the top right of the intake, the exhaust manifolds come straight down from the head and the spark plugs screw in with the threaded end angled toward the rear of the engine. Is this enough info for anyone to confirm a 351W? I know some years the 302 had the same firing order of 13726548
Also, one more question while I'm here..... What size lug bolts were used on the front hubs? Some of them are broken off and my local parts store guy doesn't know which ones to sell me.
To ID the engine, measure the intake manifold, a 351W is 11" or so between the heads, a 302 is 9" or so. Also, a 302 has the heads even with the top of the timing cover, while a 351W block is 1/2" taller.
As for a lift kit, the basic lift is the same for 80-1996.
I have a '80 F100 Vin# F10EPJD4701. He is a 2x4 300 inline six, 9" rearend, 3speed w/ OD, air and power steering. I do have the build sheet for him too.
mil1ion, The buildsheet doesn't have a date on it. The upper Right hand corner of the build sheet is missing. I laminated the sheet so it won't deteriorate anymore. Also there is an "R" after the 4701 in the VIN. But the "R" is not on the VIN in the door or on the dash. Above the "R" on the buildsheet is torn off. Hope this helps.
