What does Modular mean?

What does Modular signify?
Any opinions on performance, especialy on towing and plowing would be appreciated. The truck has a heavy duty spring package with a 4.10 LS rear axle. I'd most likly be towing mowers, possibly a small Bobcat.
Thanks!
Modular means that many parts interchange with other engines. 4.6L, 5.4L and the 6.8L V10 are part of the modular family. The 6.8L is a 5.4L with 2 more cylinders so the pistons and rods should interchange, the 4.6L and 5.4L heads interchange.
Sounds like you already have a good gear package. A programmer such as a Diablosport Predator will help. I have one and there is a noticable increase in hp and the tranny shifts much firmer now which eliminates slippage between gears, which will make it last longer.
