8.8 plenty strong
I was wheeling yerterday on a logging road, I came to a section in the road that had 11 logs laying across it. There were trees, and brush on both sides of the trail, and no room to turn around, so it was go over them, or back out. The logs were about a foot in a half in dia, and they were spaced apart. So I went over them, crossing them at an agle, where I had room, and very slowly. The ranger did great. I went on , and up around the bend there was a log skidder turned sideways, blocking the road. Ended up backing out, and backing across the logs. The 8.8 and tru-trac didn't somuch as whimper, it just grabed and growled. I thought I might twist an axle, but it kept cugging. Even the ifs in the front did a great job. The ifs gets a bad rap, but for normal offroad situations, it works quit well, rock crawling maybe a different story. I don't like abusing my ranger like this, and don't often. The leason here is, when 4-wheeling, expect the unexpected, and be preparared. I f I hadn't had the tru-trac lsd, I wouldn't even atempted it, an open diff wouldn't of made it, would of had to back out.

There really wasn't no place to pull them to, to get them out of my way. What I should of done, is back out and call it a day. It all worked out, but at anytime something could have went wrong, and I'ld of been walking. Also could of easily tore my truck up, it wasn't worth it, nor would I do it again.
