plug color
What the Heck?
Cyl. 1. black (soot)
2. nice brown
3. lite brown
4. dark brown
5. dark brown
6. black (soot)
7. nice brown
8. lite brown
2600 miles on the plugs. I can't find a pattern. Dual plane manifold 1,4,6,7 on one side of the carb; 2,3,5,8 on the other. It can't be a primary/secondary thing. Plugs are autolite 25s. Intake is weiand non egr. Carb is holley 4160. Not the distance from the carb. either. I'm out of ideas. Can anyone give some ideas?

checked gap when I put them in.
new plug wires 2500 mi. ago, but that don't mean they are all good either. Maybe I should ohm them out. Thought I should check compression last night.

Compression 160-170 psi
Plug wires seem high to me.
1. 7.88k ohms
2. 6.91k
3. 6.89k
4. 7.03k
5. 5.28k
6. 9.47k
7. 8.57k
8. 6.12k
Is this normal? They are autolite premium 8.5mm. Should I fork up the cash for something better?
Now, like an idiot, I messed with the idle screws so I'm going to have to wait to check the plugs again.
