I have installed a steering column from a 78 Bronco in my 70 F-100 in a power steering conversion. That went well, but now it is time to hook the wiring back up. It is obvious that the 78 has more wires then the 70 and the plug on the 78 does not match the one on the dash of my 70.
Can anyone how has done this before offer any advice?
mitch its not that hard if you can find a wiring diagram for the bronco column the difference is probably just hazard switch meaning the hazard switch is on the column verses the dash panel to fix the problem all you should need to do is to figure out which wire is a battery feed to your hazard switch and which wire is a switched power to your signals on the column to do this without a diagram pull the steering wheel off and using a volt meter in tone or point to point mode with the hazard switch off find the wire that goes from hazard switch to connector on column and tones [keep in mind with one lead on your connector the other lead should only tone on hazard not on the signal signal switch as well if it does you have found the brake light power lead] with the turn signal switch in neutral as it were find the common point between connector and switch thats your ignition lead on the output of the column/connector if you do a simulated power feed to your turn signal switch when you move the switch to left or right you can tell which leads are left and right just make sure that you first power up your brake light circuit as there will be 2 wires for each front signal 1 for dash the other for indicator on grill with brake on or simulated 2 wires on connector should tone those are the rear lights
