Question Questions: Traction Bars

Hi! I have a 1946 Australian Ford Coupe Ute. Engine is a Chevrolet 350 bored .030 over with a small B&M blower, 340hp. I would like to install a pair of powdered coated black traction bars since it it really squats and squeels in the rear when I get on the throttle and I don't want to twist the rear springs out of shape or break the u-bolts.

1st question: How to you measure leaf springs for a fit? I noticed universal mounts that state 28 inches & 30 inches.

2nd question: Is there a preferred brand?

3rd question: I see that most mount under leaf springs, how much space to they require? I am wondering about ground clearance.

4th question: I see that Jeg's has a note on all their univeral Lakewood traction bars ---- do not use with air shocks --- Why? I have air shocks in the rear.

Thanks for your help...Dave

Dave check out Calvert Racing before you buy anything. They are a little pricy but well worth it. I cannot say enough about how well they perform.

Yes, I ran across them when I did a google and said "Holy Crap" when I saw the prices. I did see some good comments about them on other sites so I will look into them. Thanks................

Ladder Bars are usually fixed to the frame ahead of the axles, as well as fixed to the rear...so when using airshock to change ride heigth, you start stressing them and the mounting mounts...they still stress under normal driveing, but only on bumps, etc.

Traction bars don't fix to the front of the axle...kinda dangle out there until the axle wraps, then makes contact with the frame.
