I am in South Seattle. I need 5 tires and 1 wheel(for spare); I like simple custom:, e.g. wagon wheel or chromed stock. 5 lug-no insert.
Advice needed: The truck has sat for some periods-the tranny seals are pretty leaky. Is this a C-6 and is the seal replacement easy?.
The extra gas tank has a small cap-no store seems to carry it. Why is this so?
Lastly-are front disc brakes hard to install on these spindles?
I have a 69 F100 w/ dual tanks (well one is on the ground in my back yard) I was able to find a cap at Schucks, although I had to take about 3 out to the truck to get the right one. My guess is that if you have a six or a 302, that you have a C4, if you have an FE (360,390) or a Big block (460) that you have a C6. I live near you in Skyway. For inexpensive tires and wheels I look a Budget auto wrecking in Kent. Budget is located in a group of 4 yards in south Kent by the river, another one of those yards, Green River, has quite a few 67-79 type pickups.
It's going to be a whole lot easier and cheaper to replace the I-Beams with disk brake axles than it is going to be to retrofit the existing axles. Just be sure you grab all of the brake components that go with the new axles. Proportioning valve, master cylinder, booster.
