Wow, this is odd.... My A/C blows cold, both front and rear. Today I took it on the highway for a little drive, it was doing great ! So I press the gas alittle more then next thing you know the front vents just kick off, and rears are still blowing cold?!? I let go of the throttle alittle, front vents start right back up! WHAT!?!?
Is this Electrical or Vacuum related?
This also happens in [list]Whenever the vacuum hits 0 lbs @ 3/4 throttle position

That's exactly what is supposed to happen. The A/C has a cut out relay (WOT) wide open throttle. When you go heavy on the gas, the relay cuts off the a/c until your revs are back to normal.
WOT will cause the compressor to shut off. The blower keeps going. The problem you have is vacuum related. I have this problem in my 94 4.0. The air stops coming out of the vent and comes out of the defrost. Vacuum controls the direction the air goes. If you don't have enough vacuum the flap will not stay in the vent position and goes to the default position which is defrost. Check your vacuum hoses, resovior, and check valve.
This must be contagious
Last night mine cut out and shifted to the floor, instead of defrost, as I was accelerating (55mph) up that long hill going home. Is it the same? Vacumn check valve? No rear air on mine.
I suspected vacumn but thought maybe a hole in a line somewhere as I had this with my Grand Cherokee prior, but it shifted to the defrost .
Actually.............nothing cuts out the air flow is just re-directed to the floor from the vents, air is still blowing and AC still functioning. It returns to the vent out-put on de-acceleration. This is something new for the Navy Bean.
Of course this miserable 90,96+ degree heat with heat indexes of 100+ is very un-usual for here also.I hate it and definitely sympathize with anyone in the awful heat around the countries.
