or your blend door has broken. Check the other 1,000,000 people who have identical problem with the blend door breaking at the pivot point. Ford won't recall them, amazing huh? It's about 8 hours of work and a $27 part. Ford will charge you $800.
Yep, classic broken blend door shaft.
Ya know, I was a Ford Tech for ~20 years. I hated most recalls because I lost money and they get soooo motonous. This is one I would have gladly supported along with any other EATC blend door related campaign. The parts are so buried that they should have forseen the potential trouble with weak parts. Ford has paid enough out in warranty claims on these trucks that they aren't saving much by not campaigning them, not to mention customer satisfaction fer cryin out loud. (Recalls are for safety concerns, campaigns are for non safety issues).
Well, "most" of them lasted through the warranty period!!
I'm a Ford lover and promoter, but in cases like this...Aargh!
It's not just Ford. My Dodge Caravan is the same way. I decided to let someone else do the work as I knew it was deep. The dash must be partially removed to get to it. I think it cost me around $150 to get the Dodge fixed.
Found it. YL7Z-19D963-BA The dealer (who yesterday said I had to buy the entire plenum assemby for $330) acknowledged the p/n is good, amazing that we have to steer the parts specialists to their own p/n's. Must be a conspiracy. They wanted $43 and it wasn't in stock, so I went to www.fordpartsdiscounted.com and found it for $29.

Now the fun begins!!!
Good job, sorry I didn't get back to you, I was holed up at O'Hare with late flights (imagine that). Glad you could get the part you needed! I'd steer clear of that Ford Parts Specialist. Sounds like he's trying to rip you off. I only paid $27.
I went ahead and bought it so I could spend my holiday weekend tearing into the dash. Interesting note, the parts guy had the nerve to ask where I got the p/n and I asked why he cared. His response was that the p/n in the Ford computer indicates that the part is not to be sold to the general public. Hmmmm He sold it to me anyway. Did I mention Ford conspiracy?
