Thumbs down

Ok so i was going to have my familys mechanic read the codes for me, but his shop was closed. So i stoped at a corner repair shop...i wont name the company but if someone wants to know i'll send you the name of it. Any how i asked if they could read the codes. The Mr. bad @$$ mech. asks if the check engine light is on. I told him no. I described what it was doing and brought up maybe the tps, vacuum leak, fuel system failure, or another sensor....He said that he wouldn't waste his time because any of those symptoms that are making the truck hesitate or missfire in his words would throw the check engine light on. I told him that i've been told that some errors wont throw a light and he kept going on about how it may need overhauled? I honestly think he was trying to get over on a me because i'm young, but little does he know i'm very mechanically inclined and have much more experience in vehicles components etc than most.

Just thought about throwing that out there and getting your opinions on what he said.... Sorry for the delay on the codes, i'm working on it and will have them to you asap

That guy sounded like a real "Richard Cranium", if you know what I mean.

There's a shop around the corner from where I live. I stopped by one day, as he had a couple older Ford trucks in the parking lot. It would be really nice to have a mechanic close by that I know is competent. Turns out the guy is a complete jerk - I'd really like to call him a more accurate name, but FTE rules prohibit me. I wouldn't bring him a lawnmower after the way he talked to me.

Ok Guys I know this thread was about dead. I've been driving the truck with the problem until now.. The day before the problem started My Speedometer stopped working *bouncing all over the place*....So yesterday i was thinking that had something to do with it. I was playing with the reset and select buttons and the speedometer started working and No Stalling at any speed.

The lcd display has the last 3 digits burned out and i'm getting an error and error 5 code does anyone know what that means? I'm guessing that the speedometer was sending the wrong signal to the pcm etc and was causing the cut out of the engine. I'm going to buy a speedo cluster from a junk yard tomorrow any tips on making it a smooth installation?
