In my opinion a chip is better. First a chip will out perform a tuner. Second, if its a multi position chip, you can adjust the settings on the fly and not have to stop the side of the road for 5-10 mins. to switch like a tuner.
My opinion is to get a chip from Tony Wildman. He creates his own programs that will really make your truck perform. Also he can cusomize a chip how ever you want.
Send me a PM and I'll get ya his phone #.
I ageee, I have the programer and it's a pain in the butt to change, and it does take a few minutes to change the program. A chip would be nice, all you would have to do is change it with a switch.
This "chip" y'all are talking about. Is that the one I have seen where you have install a dial on your dash that has 3 diffrent settings. Zero being stock and three increasing by something like 150hp?
You can have anywhere from 2-6 positions. Their a number of different types of chips. Most are really generic. Getting one from a guy like Tony gives you a program that will be more specific to your truck/application.
That all depends on your right foot. With the new found power its hard to control yourself and notice any at all. If you drive conservitive, you might see a couple mpg gain.
I understand the "foot" thing. My brother has a 2002. He got the reprogrammer and upgraded the exhaust. Since those changes his computer shows 22 mpg when hes on the highway. Before that he said the best he ever saw was 16.
Who isa Tony Wildman? How do his compare to the Hypertech products.
I'll have my first diesel in about 2 wks. Trying to get the do's and donts. Thanks for the patience.

Any chip really messes up the milage. So I would'nt trust a computer to be right especially on a tuned truck. Not saying I don't belive it but most of the time those things are way off after you chip a truck. Tonys chips will beat any generic (hyper-tech)chip/tuner hands down. IMHO
