I have searched for this and had no luck. I just bought a controller to put in my 99 F 250, but during my search I read about the customer access wires. Well I think I have found them in the rear and found some under the dash and under the hood. My question is are all these connected? If not where do they all go. I would like to use the ones under the dash but am not sure if they are the ones that go out back. I called ford but they weren't any help. Does anyone know the answer to this?
if you are looking to connect your brake controller, remove the dash panel under the sterring column, look to the right you will see a silver metallic dash support with cutouts through them. Look in the cutout nearest the firewall and you will find a plug to plug in your pigtail wires(available from ford or supplied with truck if it has a tow package). Just plug in the pig tail and wire your controller. If you need to wire your plug in the rear of truck, seperate wire harness, and purchase a "T" plug that allows you to tap in to the wires to wire your plug.
in the second picture, right above and through the metal brace from the wires you are showing is the factory plug for the brake controller. it is gray and has ribs on the side of it and has sliver pins in it. you should be able to get a plug from the place you got the controller form to plug right into it so you will not have to do any wiring at all. once you do that you will also need to add 2, 30 amp maxi fuses to the under hood fuse box (right in front of the master cylinder above the drivers side fender well) in locations 26 and 16 and put 2 relays in the relay box that is attached the the main fuse box for it all to work
