I intend to paint my truck with some "Tufcote 917 Air Dry High Solids Enamel" It is a grey Equipment paint I found at the swap meet. One Gallon of it. It says on the lable that thinning is not required, but if I do thin it, I need to use something called Xylene or T-8805...Cant find either of these items..Can someone tell me if there is a more common, suitable substitute. I will spray it on with a HVLP gun that I have never used. Any tips on spraying equipment enamel would also be appreciated.Thanks.
Xylene is a common industrial solvent. You should be able to buy it at your local industrial coatings dealer. Probably not cheap though.
Also keep in mind it's carcinogenic, and it dissolves Latex Gloves pretty quick. I think that those more expensive blue gloves keep it out, but I haven't tried it.
Xylene is also used to clean tools and equipment that has been used to apply epoxy paints. As 77-250 says the industrial paint suppliers should carry it.
When using
