fuel system question

could someone explain from fuel tank to injectors, what does the fuel system consist of, in other words, what pumps do we have
example : tank pump ?? fuel pump on rail?? lifter pump or injector pump
I only see the pump on the rail and fuel filer (high pressure oil pump below that)
thanks

Yep - you pretty much got it already. Fuel pump on the frame rail... sends fuel to the filter bowl... then to the heads, to the injectors.... the return line, back to the tank, is off the fuel filter bowl - the heads are dead-ended.

yep Chad has it right. also he has a PM too.

i was tired of the fuel system how it was, it was something i hadn't touched aside from the Hutch mod. to make it better, i modified it somewhat like JTharvey has done (actually alot like his). i made some room under the hood by removing the fuel filter bowl, and im almost done with it. just need to get some more parts for the regulator return outlet to the tank.

thanks, no wonder I've been driving myself crazy trying to find a lifter pump, and an injector pump like other Diesels I'm more used to.
So once your fuel is getting to the fuel filter, you can assume it's getting to the injectors.

is there a sensor that's cuts the fuel to the injectors, if so where is it located ?????
(I already changed my CPS)

I saw a link in the mods sticky called the 7.3 bible i think. it's from an IH site in south america, but in english. I got a copy of ford service manual on CD on ebay for like $10 + s/h. it tought me a lot. and to answer your question. no sensor to cut fuel to injectors. there are some sensors and actuators in the high pressure oil system that help regulate and control that pressure which is used to boost fuel pressure out the injector nozzles hydralicaly.
