Your pyro should read "0" on a cold engine with power to it.

the mounting bracket for the turbo has the pyro sender spot pre drilled and tapped already. all you have to do is screw it in.
and the air box has the boost hole pre drilled and tapped to, so that is a screw in also.

Dave I do have a set of after market gauges on the bottom of the dash (right above the 4x4 shifting handle) one does say "exhust temp" (have to run out and read the other not sure what that says, but I'm sure it's for the turbo...heck didn't have any idea what they were for...hmm thanks.

Mine will read the outside air temp, slightly higher if parked in sun all day

I picked up the new pryometer today, the needle on the new reads below 0, compared to the old one which read around 250...going to install it tonight.

pyrometers

yall jinxed me with all this pyro talk. after 18 years, my pyro bit the dust this morning. went from 600º to 1500º to zero.

guess it time to spend some more money.

Tom,
150 dollar pyrometer with 18 year service life.
So it cost you something like 8.33 a year, and may have saved you several thousand many times over.

Sounds like a very good return on your investment.

yea, i know Dave, its just that i hate spending that much money on a stupid little gauge.
i mean its not like it does anything except sit on the dash and look pretty with the needle going up and down.

New Pyrometer installed, the other one was diffinately faulty...haven't driven under any load yet...location of my therocouple [6 inches from exhaust manifold], I should keep it under 1000 ?? Is that a safe estamit?

You are not going to loose that much heat in 6". I would say 1100 is a safe number for long pulls. A little higher for very short durations.
