Information and Idea's Please

I recently purchased a 1968 Ford-100 and need all the information that I can receive from whoever is willing to reply.
Someone at one point did a partial restore on the truck so it is pretty sound, but there are a few minor problems that need to be fixed before they get out of hand.

Looked at Stockman's web site and found it to be quite helpful. But still slightly confused. If anyone can help?

1. Wiring...never done this but I am going to get my hands dirty. I am looking for a manual that will show me what goes where. It was started but my dash lights are either out or disconnected. Back-up ligths...connected to a hot switch in the cab. lots of excess wire under the dash. Will also add a radio. I know that I can hot wire check some of the componets but how the heck do you get the horn off the steering column?(two horns under the hood!?!)

2. Door shims. passenger door is not bad but drivers door needs work soon.

3.AC did/or was there ever an aftermarket ac unit produced?

4. From what I can tell it has a V-8 352 with a c-4 tranny. Would like to find specs to rebuild. Also the pick-up is not what you would expect. It is burning a little rich / or one of my plugs is fouled out and is not burning off all of the fuel. Believe it or not the choke is still connected! I want better performance but maintain decent gas milage on a shoestring budget.

5.Bed...the bed is fine fot the most part. the bottom will need some work as rust has settled in, is there a bed-pan (?) to replace the original? What can I do here

6.I will re-paint with the same metallic blue that the "original" restore was done with.

7. Steering is a little loose (more than I would like) but it will still run straight down the road "hands free". Want to tighten it up, where do I start? Also when I brake the front end will pull hard towards the direction that I am steering. Would also like to reduce the adjust the brake pedal bar size (can I adjust or will I have to recreate or cut?).

8. Battery pan....rusted can't even find a plastic replacement any ideas?

9. Alternator....keeps slipping loose and belts squeal...need an original bottom bolt for the mount this may (will probably) help.

10. Manuals where can I find them ?

I tightened up the manual steering quite a bit in my 69 F100 2wd by replaceing the "rag joint" coupling between the steering column shaft and the steering gear. I was able to get replacement in help section of auto parts store. I did need to buy two kits to get a second stud that I needed and enlist the help of a machine shop to grind the old studs off the steering gear fitting (they were riveted and replaced w/ bolted on pieces). Can you find Haynes manual for 67-72? I don't have one for my 69 but I have a 76 and a 79 and my manual for 73-79 have very detailed wiring schematics year by year.

another blue, Find a new AC kit to use, you will be ahead on that one. Your tranny if it is a one piece is a C6, not a C4. For your steering you might want to upgrade to power, along with power disc brakes. You can find books at http://www.books4cars.com.

Good luck,

Okay sorry info was so sketchy...I do have power steering and an automatic transmission. I would like to get th play out of it. I have been told that I can do that at the box but want to be sure.
As for the AC did they come with ac or would I have to adapt one from a newer model. It looks as if whoever started the restore was doing fine and either ran out of money or ????
I will let you know what books I find that you don't have. This will take time as money is tight right now and the old truck runs fine. So I will continue to drive daily and let the wife complain that I am spending too much time tinkering. Thanks.
