Cool oooouuuuch

So I went to the local pick-n-pull today because last week when I was there they had a 77 Ford truck with disc brakes. I didn't want to pay for the I beams and support arms so I decided to knock out the king pins at the yard.
Well the passenger side came off easy and I moved the the drivers side. This side was much harder and stuborn. While ponding as hard as I could under the fender well I missed once and hit my left hand full force. I ended up pulling the whole I beam and worked on it out from under the truck. I won, but at the cost of one majorly sore hand and a big blister on my right hand.
I got out of there with both complete front disc from king pin out, one poportioning valve with tubing and the power master brake for $200.
Was it worth it?
The power booster and master cylinder is offset up with a pivot arm that works the master cylinder. I sure hope this works on my 65 it looks like there will plenty of room. Has anyone used a master cylinder from a 77?
I plan on completely overhauling all parts prior to install so this project may be a few weeks or months down the road depending on work and vacation and fishing..

JD this will bolt directly to the firewall on your 65, it has the same pattern. Just do not reuse the mount plate for the old single pot.

I use the lever type on all my upgrades as it moves the booster and master up about 2 inches higher than a straight type unit. This gives a lot more room for valve cover access on Fe's and 385 series engines.

When installing it bolt on the booster and then mark the pedal and lever arm where you want the foot of the pedal to sit. Drill the new hole in the lever and bolt her fast with the 77s eccentric bolt ( you did pocket that?) the eccentric allows a little up and down of the pedal for fine tuning.

200 is a lot better deal than paying 700 for MPBs kit that is not even ford parts. All the parts you scoured are readily replacable with Good ford parts.

Now is a good time to order up a set of pre bent Stainless steel brake lines and new feed hoses from NPD. order them for a 77 and they will fit.

Did you also get the mounts for the front caliper hoses that are attached to the frame? If not make another trip. only one side unbolts so you need to grab another one from a second truck. They are needed to install the stock 77 ford hose. Makes life much easier.

Jon, went with 76 donor truck and connected right up, believe you will need different tie rods, not sure, took them from donor truck and did not compare to 65, but did need to change pitman arm. Did'nt bother with salvaged master cylinder. If looking into reconditioning master cylinder may be cheaper to replace. Went to local NAPA parts supplier and purchased a new one, no exchange required, came to around $44. NAPA part number is 47-36399, but also depends upon which side your brake lines attach, can order for either side. I used the salvaged booster with no problem. Used the same brake pedals on the 65 and have not had any problems, but have seen post where members suggest using donor brake pedals, comes with the brake switch. Also want the brake line metering manifold. If you purchased the Pic N Pull warranty, may want to replace king pins, or check to determine if the journals are okay before 30 day waranty expires. Had to take mine back and exhange because pin journal exceded allowable limits. Anyhow, couple of suggestions.

Thanks for the reccomendations gentlemen.
Yes I did pocket the eccentric from the 77 but no I didn't grab the hose mounts will have to go back and get those. I was going to go with a new cylinder but noticed that the one on the donor looked new and had a bendix sticker on it. I still may buy the new cylinder but my main goal was the booster.

I was going to fab my own lines but if they are not that much from NPD I may just order them.
Again thanks for the input guys..
