Need tire help/info
I can't find any used tires at the local salvage yards and thus have to go new. I can't afford new but thats another whole differant toppic.
Anyway I have found some Power King tires made by Kelly/Hancook that I might be able to swing. I don't know anything about this tire and not sure if I should even get them or if I should keep searching. I have found a "Power King Camper" load range d for $77ea and "Power King Super Highway" load range D for $112ea. Both in a size 8.75 x 16.5. The guy selling the "Camper" tire thinks it might be for a trailor or pullable camper, Is this true???
Anyone know anything about these tires???
Any cheap alternatives????
Any differant sizes I should check? It 2wd and I don't plan on running it in the winter(verry little surface rust on it and would like to keep it that way
).Thanks in avance.
And I got a lead on 5 8.75x16.5 tires with about 2000 miles on them for about 1/2 price...
Having lived in NH and dealt with some "inspection" stations, what they do is loosen stuff up you can not easily see to cause problems they can easily fix without replacing parts. Such as steering box bolts, tranny/engine bolts which will cause a tranny leak, etc.
So, whenever I go for an inspection, the vehicle does not leave my sight, I stand right behind it outside the bay door.

9.50 x 16.5 is a much more common size, comes in D, and is cheaper brand new then the 8.50/8.75. I would not hesitate to run the retreads. It is a much taller tire, but, it will fit your truck.

Try taking the spare tires from E-250/E-350 vans. Though the trouble in NH is there are not many junkyards, especially pick-a-parts.
On that web site the first price listing is recaps??? THe 8.75's are actually $5 cheaper than the 9.5's. If this deal dosen't pan out I will look into gettign from that company.
Thank you for the info...
and as for salvage yards most of the yards are u-pick yards. some items they don't want you to pull though. I called around for a cylinder head and one place said he wanted to pull it because he didn't want oil and junk on the ground. Another place said "theres a couple out there in the first row of cars." Saved $50 at the second place and got head and valve cover instead of just the head, also picked up a $5 water pump that was already pulled and just sitting on the motor.
