Hey guys. I'm putting on a Tru-Cool tranny cooler and I'm sure I'll need a little extra fluid. I'm wondering if I can throw a quart of dexron III in it. I have a 2002 F250 PSD CC 4X4. I have only had it since last october. I bought it with 52.000 and now have 58,000. I don't know what fluid is in it now but with this kind of mileage I'd assume it's still factory. Also wondering if I can easily change to synthetic? what would you recomend. Ocassionly tow 8000 lb toy hauler.
If you haven't changed the fluid, I'd recommend doing so. But just adding a couple quarts you'll be fine. Oh, and the graphics on the side, looks good from my angle I like it.
OOPS. look in gallery, I forgot to ask what you guys think of my new graphics the Missus and I put on.
Very nice Mark. Where did u get the graphic?
BTW, save your money and stay with basic dino ATF MERCON. The only real advantage the syn has is thermal conductivity and wider viscosity index. In other words it's meant for real extreme cold temps...better flow.
Just my .02 worth.

That is nice. It reminds me of a tattoo I saw on a Marine back in the day. It was on his forearm, three tear marks, with the flag inside. Very nice. Where'd you get it?
as far as the transmission fluid, it's recommended to be changed evert 30K miles. i am running Amsoil Synthetic TorqueDrive and love it. it was about $175 for five gallons of fluid (holds 19 quarts, bought 20). it's worth it though, the drain interval is at least 60,000 miles and that's for OTR trucks.
i used this link to FLUSH the system. when changing to synthetic, do not just drain the pan and then refill with synthetic. "peeing" in the wind. you need to get as much out as possible-

Thanks for all the info. I got the graphics on stealbay and they are a bit pricey but cheaper than a custom paint job (which I'd perfer). I think it was 254.00 for both. It was a buy it now only price, no bidding. they are around 78" long and 17" wide. If I can I'll post, OOPS don't think I can do that. Just look for "tear graphics".
I just did my Tru-Cool last weekend. I think I added about 2 quarts.
How did you manage that? I added the 6.0 Cooler which is bigger than the Tru-Cool and didn't even need a quart. You sure on that? With the 6.0 cooler I had to replace all lines too from the radiator arear. Not the radiator itself but around the passenger side. I'd recheck your fluid level.
