First Post so take it easy on me...I've read a lot of previous post here considering the towing of Expeditions, overall everyone seems relatively happy. I'm looking at a 2003 to tow a 21' Mako around Florida, boat weights approx 4000# fully loaded. Here are the questions:
4x2 or 4x4 wont matter much for that weight, just make sure the 2003 has the Tow Package. If you have the tow package, you can easily tow over 6000 lbs.
I tow a 5500 lb camper and get 8-10 MPG 8 on 87 Octane, 10 on 92 Octane. I get around 16 if I am not towing, i would imagine you getting 10-12 towing that boat.
Expy will do you fine. Not sure what the ratings are for a non tow package model.
