I have a new kitchen sink, faucet, garbage disposal and soap dispenser about 95% installed. I'm stuck on the last part though and that's getting the left side of the sink hooked up to the drain. Here is a picture of my situation:
The piping is from the old sink and doesn't have a whole lot of give. As you can see the PVC pipe is at a slight angle. Is it okay for PVC to be slightly angled or bent? How the heck do I remedy this?
You need to visit a hardware store and buy the ring + seal that screws onto the sink drain as well as a short piece of pipe. You also need a ring + seal for the lower connection on the existing drain pipe. There is a name for that needed pipe (it's not just a piece of ordinary PVC, it's an adapter and it will be flanged on the upper end); my mind is going blank as to what it is called. Buy the PVC pipe (adapter) and cut the lower side to length. Measure before you go to the store and measure what you're buying to make sure it will work after being cut. From what I see in your pic, the distance is too great for pipe bending. Too bad you didn't live next door to me; I have a couple new ones in my basement that would work just fine.
It wouldn't hurt to have that pic with you when you go to the hardware store; it says more than 1000 words .

They do sell a drain pipe that is flexible. it looks like an accordian near the top. That will give you the room you need without having to re do everything...
I think that the needed piece is called a tail pipe, andf I, too, would recomended one that is flexible to connect easier, otherwise, you would have to adjust the length of your curent installed pieces to get the joint to straighten up a bit. Any normal plumbing ( or electrical, or automotive) project always requires at least one return trip to the store to get that one extra part that you didn't know you needed. Either that or, upon final tightening, you break or strip the only piece that will seal everything up.
The flex pipe is great and I like them, but I'm not sure he's got enough room there to put one in. As noted, buy extra stuff and return what isn't used.
From your description, you already have the disposer hooked up and the picture is showing the piece that runs either to the disposer or to a Y in the waste.
If that piece is from the disposer, I would say you need to re-check your disposer as it's not put on straight or completly. Knowing how you are hooking up both sides would help. Are you using a continous waste or does each drain have a P-trap installed? The piece you need is called a tail piece. Generally you get a longer one with the slip nut and gaskets and cut off the excess. The pieces do not have to bottom out as they are made to give you some leeway in your install.
Becasue of the angle of the waste, I'd say something else is not lined up or because of the bit of "slop" built into a waste, just move it straight, cut a tail piece the length you need and hook it up.
Did you use plummers putty to install the basket strainer and disposer adapter?
