Challenger

For those who are interested, Dodge announced today that the Challenger has the green light and should be out in '08. Too bad I'm broke.

That's ok because you don't want to buy the first production year. It will be over priced from high demand and probably have a lot of bugs. That said, I saw it at the Chicago auto show last year and thought it was the coolest prototype there. I grew up in the 60's muscle car era and had a couple of go-fast Mopars myself.

They claim the Hemi version will do 0-60 in 4.5 sec... I need that. Don't we all? I was thinking of a new Miata a couple of years from now but I'm having second thoughts.

I saw a picture of it. I think it would look better if the nose was longer and had a chrome bumper up front to break up all that paint.

I've heard that the Nascar Busch Series might be using these cars, along with the Mustang and Camaro, in 2008. I think that's a great idea, too. I'm a fan of the Busch Series, and of late it's just become a bunch of Nextel Cup regulars hijacking it. So I think a difference in the cars they run would help it come into its own as a sport.

It would make a difference IF the cars in Busch and Nextell were actually based on stock cars.

I think it looks twice as good as the new charger, which looks nothing like a charger. I think they did a good job on the body, it looks pretty original, like the new mustang. If the hemi goes 0-60 in 4.5 I wonder what the SRT model goes, if they have one planned.
