my truck is a 93 f-150 xlt supcab short box, chiped 302, 5spd,tow package, with the 8.8,4:56's with detroit 6inch lift. I have spent the last 2 hrs researching the forums for simmular question but found nothing like mine. Ok Im giving my 66-f100 to my brother inlaws boy for high school shop project. I want to put the 66 on a uhaul trailer and tow it about 230 miles this week. I know that the lift, shortbox, and 302 are not the greatest setup. But all i do with the truck is use it to kill anything with fur. Will i be allright towing with it taking it easy of course. My buddy has same set up as me and hauls his 66 chevelle around with is says his does fine . So what do you guys think.
P.S. dont know if it matters but i have the centerforce 2 clutch

Make sure you have working brakes on the trailer, tie the truck well to the trailer, make sure your insurance covers all 3 vehicles and start towing. No jackrabbit starts and try to time your braking. Have fun!
I'll second BP's stuff above. In addition to that, make sure the safety chains are in good shape, look sturdy, and that you cross them in the "X" pattern. You don't want them dragging on the ground, either.
As to additional tiedowns for the truck on the trailer deck, your best bet is to try and cross them (left side of truck frame to right side tie point of trailer, etc.) so that neither axle can slide left or right if the deck gets slippery for any reason.
Try and get a receiver drop that gets the trailer as level as possible and make sure those brakes work. It'll probably be surge on that model trailer. The more level the tongue, the better the tow.
Otherwise, I think the truck will do just fine as long as you don't hotrod it. Some folks will caution you on using overdrive with the manual. I've had people tell it to me both ways.
The uhaul trail is just fine. thats what i brought it up from Vegas with 3 years ago, but was towing with a 01 PSD the truck fits perfect on the trailer. The 66 wont be pulling anything for a while she has 278,345 orig miles and has now blowing the oil ring in #5. She still fires up sweet but smoke like a train in the cab.but i would but it up angainst anthing and have.lol.
