Does it light when you turn the key to run? The bulb may just have gone out.
Depending on year, this can be easy or difficult to replace. On my '94 it's just a matter of popping the dash off, removing a bezel, and replacing the bulb.

Had the same problem on my 99, the E brake switch tab/spring is bad. Its a $16 part on Rock Auto.
Go to the E Brake pedal, look below it on the firewall and you will see the switch, disconnect th wire and use a 1/4 drive small ratchet with a swivel to remnove the single bolt that holds it in place. then install the new one and hook up the wire.
5 min repair.
Advice, slide the seat all the way back to make access easier. If you are a big dude get a midget to help you cause its on the left side by the kickpanel and if you are a rightie its a tight fit.

Before you replace anything, remove the E brake switch and check to see if it is sticking or has dirty contacts. If so, give it a cleaning with elecrical contact cleaner and you're good to go. If that's not the problem, then replacement is the solution.
