Whir sound

I have a 2005 FX4 5.4L and I am getting a whirring sound like a windup toy. It starts from a dead stop and goes away when the truck shifts into second - but the kicker is it only does this when the A/C is on. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Thanks!

My 04 fx4 just started doing the same thing - only when the AC is on. I have no idea what it is at this point.

Mine does the exact same thing. It is really noticeable when you are next to a building. Sounds like gears meshing.

Mine started about two weeks ago. It's most noticable after the truck has set over night. Sometimes it will stop by itself or I can cut the A/C off and after 30 or so seconds it will stop.
