I can relate too. One yard said that they had a 2.9l for $600 and "guaranteed less than 50,000 miles", brought it home, drained the oil, and 2 gallons of water poured out before the oil came out. month later, asked for an A4LD tranny..."guaranteed less than 50,000 miles." They wouldn't let me in their yard to look at the vehicle's odometer. Anyhow, Ebay w/patience usually pays off.
PS: Randy Jack, did you find a solution to yer sending unit?
I have have good luck on Craigslist also and saved on shipping.
Yep,I can relate to the boneyard tales.Yes,it was a chicken crap part I was after,a brake line fitting for a Mustang master cylinder that is 5/8x14 for a 3/16 steel line.
I have about 6 small yards within about a 6 mile radius, everyone didn't want to be bothered or let me look for it,(it's not like that's the only part I'll ever buy)until I ran across a Mustang parts/junk yard in New Center Tn.nice people, let me find what I needed and on top of all that they were going to GIVE it to me.I handed him a 5 dollar bill and thanked him, told him when I need more parts I will be back.
Sounds like a good place to return to for parts 52pickup. So heres my update:
After multiple phone calls to a certain junk yard about 200 miles away, I think I found what I'm looking for. The sad part is that multiple people at this yard told me that they had nothing that would work with my truck. I actually had to argue with one guy and call him back 3 times over a 3hr period to walk out and check for a certain transmission that was listed on car-part.com. He told me that he didnt have it so I gave him the stock # listed on the website and he finally agreed to go check it out. The third time I called to bug him he said he was just about to call me (yeah right) but that he has the transmission. I told him to check it over in more depth and to make sure it is complete and I will be driving out in the morning to buy it provided its all there. So it turns out a little perserverance and alot of calling and harrasing can actually pay of in the end!

I have been telling people here about car-part for a while. I just called them Friday about the doors I bought on June 2nd. I asked if they've been shipped yet. He says, "I see a couple doors outside the shed here. Let me take a look." You guessed it. They never shipped them. The guy I bought them from doesn't work there any more. He left....about the time I bought the doors! At least he hadn't charged me for them yet. I also bought the driver's side front door jamb. They hadn't cut that out either. Good thing I don't need them until September when the truck goes back into the shop. I could be working any dings out before it goes in, but will just have to wait. Maybe that's why they were the cheapest of the lot.
