Quick flywheel question

Do the 4.9L/300 and the 5.0L/302 share the same flywheel? It shows on Summit that they do... but other data has led me to believe maybe not...

yes, they do, a lot of places will have different part numbers for the flywheels but they lead to the same place on the shelf.

I dont know if it has been covered and you might allready know this but a heavy flywheel is better in a truck because its rotating inertia gets the weight of the truck rolling easier

you need a zero imbalance on the 4.9 flywheel. 302's are 28oz or 55oz(?)

Yeah, don't worry, I'm not gonna go getting an aluminum flywheel, lol. I found em on broncograveyard.com for $150. I'll be using an 11" flywheel, and a Centerforce II Clutch assembly and throwout bearing once I put my ZF S5-42 in.

300 flexplate or flywheel spec is zero imbalance - the 300 is internally balanced. The 302 is externally balanced(28oz or 50oz, as they changed in the 80's). You can't swap between the motors without doing some balance work. They will both bolt on, but the wrong flywheel will cause a terrible vibration that will destroy your bearings. on the 302's, look at the small weld spot that indicates where they (im)balanced it. The 300 will not have one.
