1997 F-150 Harmonic balancer.
Ok, Here's the question of the week.
1997 F-150
4.6 Auto, 4X4
188K miles
No leaks.
After I had the front timing chain cover off back in December, (somebody else did this work) I began to notice a slight vibration at idle. Just a little jiggling of the mirrors and such.
Today I was just curious enough to look at the harmonic balancer whilt it was idling and noticed it doesn't run true. It has a slight "wobble".
I have the '97 Ford CD and it calls for about three special tools to get the pulley and seal on and off. I obviously don't have Ford's special widgets, but niether did the shop that had the timing chain cover off.
Can the harmonic balancer be replaced with ordinary three pronged puller? Or is that what probably screwed it to begin with?
Does the radiator and A/C condenser have to come out to do this?
Thanks
