Thumbs down Help-Ideas

Well after almost 10K miles of relative trouble free incidents it had to happen and on a trip of all things...the reason I switched to FORD over a Chevy gas.

I have a 2004 6.0l and after the first day of our three week, 3000 plus mile multi-state trip my check engine light came on. I called from the road and the dealer said don't worry itwon't leave you stranded, just bring it in when you get back-which will be next monday.

Here's the deal...when it gets warmed up it has litle power and under acceleration which is almost zero from a stop it pour out black smoke, until finally it starts moving...and this is intermittent and that in its self has caused me and the family three hair raising instances of almost getting hit in cross traffic.

In tow/haul mode with the trailer it does much better...its when its loaded and you get on it there's no go at times...the front has a new howl, the tow/haul button keeps falling off the shifter, the front end is shaking...and I'm finding out from all the RVer's I run into...I made a huge mistake...this even coming from guys driving 6.0s...so I don't know when I'll have any internet access again so if you have any ideas about what the dealer might say...besides telling me my only mod...an aux. tank...is causing all these problems.

Its tough when your father in law is running circles around you in his 454.

sounds like you have a leak at the high pressure oil pump(probably at the quick connect fitting). The aux tank will give a code for the tank sending unit, but it shouldnt cause a driveability problem.
