Decided it was time

Well after much debating I decided that it is time to get rid of my 1966 F100. I haven't had it that long, but time and money are killing me.

My unit will go to the field in Sept for 2 weeks, then off to another field problem for 30 days in Oct. Get back pack up (Nov) our equipment for our deployment, then deploy for 6 months to a year (beginning 07).

As it stands now the regular come home time is 7pm and wake up is 4:50am. Hardly enough time to work on the F100. Most of my weekends are devoted to catching up on the weekday items I have put off.

I decided to list the truck online and see what happens. I paid $400 for the truck - installed new drums and rotors, new fuel filter/pump. Petronix ignition system, and a new radiator.

It has the 352 engine which runs. I just don't want someone coming in saying the truck is only worth $600 and me getting ripped off. I was hoping someone here could give me a ball park figure for the truck.

If you go to my website and look at the pics it will give you a good idea on the condition.

Any suggestions are welcome, and thanks for the help.

I would wish the differ on selling the Slick; I know been in the military is tough, PCSing; depolyments and especially WAR. But it would be cool if you could hang on to your dream. But there's alway's tommorrow.. I beleive each Slick's value is base on two things, the condition of cancer and drivable, surface rust is not the issue but, full blown rot is. I drive a 66 LWB with alittle less surface rust than yours, for which I purchase for $800. The brakes where shot, one cab mount monkey fixed and holes in the floor board, all patch up. I also got a 65 for which was solid thru out and a more desirable SWB IMO, I pay 2K for it. So there's a broad band and would only recommend someone to look at other Slick's in about the same area and condition to determine price value. Hope I was able to get ya thinking and been helpful.

There isn't anyone on the NC area looking for a donor truck or one to work on is there? One guy e-mailed me and told me he would pay $500 for it cash. I wrote back to him and told him the lowest I would go would be $600.

I guess I'll see how it goes.

I can certainly understand too. My Dad kept my '66 for me while I was in the Army for 12 years. Is there anyone who could do that for you?
On the other hand, these are not so rare like the mid-50s trucks, so you should be able to find one later on after you get more stabilized. Also, yours is quite ate up with rust in spots, and those will definitely continue to self-destruct even while just sitting.
I would agree, $500 is a low ball figure, and $600 to $750 would be fair, since you have a lot of good parts in it.
Good luck, God bless and thanks for serving in my place in another time.

5-600 is fair. Take the money and get on with your life. You will have time later to get back into the hobby and right now your time is more valuable than a a few bucks.

dquack,
I salute you, and I THANK YOU for standing in this time. I also second everything that my friends BP66 & William said. Take what ever you can get & be comfortable with in money now. $600 would be fair, $800 is not out of line for Fayetteville NC area. If you were here or in another more urban location $1K would be a reasonable price for a running, turn key, driver.
BUT I WILL ADD, KEEP YOUR DREAM ALIVE IN YOUR HEAD & HEART FOR NOW. DREAMS COST ZIP BUT ARE WORTH MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE THINK. THEY TRAVEL VERY WELL, STOW VERY EASY AND ARE COMFORTING JUST LIKE OL' FRIENDS. I THINK THEY HELP TO KEEP US CONNECTED AND RIGHT WITH WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TOO
Besides, you won't have the worry, physical reality & responsibility of keeping and storing an actual "Slick", but you can build one in your dreams and figure out exactly what you want and don't want for real, when you have time & resources after Duties are done.
We'll probably still be here handing out opinions & knowledge too when you're ready, IF God is Willing and we keep our heads down.
Take Care be Cool, be Safe, get back soon.
