Ok here goes, I dont mean for this to offend anyone and I know I have been gone for a long time and it is summer time and everyone is busy but what happened to the Kansas Chapter? When I left this was a booming chapter with a full page of threads everyday now there is mabye three with very few people posting. Basically my question is What Happened? I have noticed that Rollie is not the leader anymore and there has been two since including Happyjack (I am sure he will do an awesome job at it) also some of the people that used to post her alot don't and I was wondering if something big went down behind closed doors Ihave read some of the past threads and none of them have pointed to anything hapening. Again I am NOT wanting to stir things up just looking for answers and how we can jump start this chapter back to what it was I am willing to help in any way I can.
It's like you said it's summer and plus the fact gas prices are in a effecting the G2G's we are working on doing a statewide G2G every month if you have idea's post in the Statewide G2G thread.
This subject has come up a couple times... some people are just doing other things and don't post as often, some people have moved on to other sites, and a couple of people are slightly aggitated with FTE, or Kansas in general, so they don't post. (I'm not opening that can of worms here though). Without the large volume posters, this site (Kansas) has hit a slump. Honestly, I don't check this site but once every few days anymore. It doesn't change enough. I feel bad for the recent shakeups... and wish there was something I could do to mount a revival. I think Rollie, Tony, and now Jack have done great jobs... and I m glad to be part of this site. It was like a tight family, now it is like one of the family died, and little squabbles ensued. I'm the happy cousin that still talks to everyone :-)
I guess it is up to us to keep posting. The more posts the more interesting it is to read, and reply. I guess we need to start becoming the "Post *****s" we once were... it is the only way to keep it, and possibly get it back to the way it was...
Seems to me things were declining ever since I joined. I can remember some pretty small gtg's last year and when the NE took over the post lead.
As far as I can tell there has been no change in the board. I really like it here. Some of the other boards I have been on are not as respectful as things are here.
Things change and intrests do also. Will we return to our glory days? I don't know. We have really good members in this chapter. My term as CL may be short. I have said it before that I'd like folks to post more what is going on with them. But I can't force folks to do so. Unless folks post what they want to do I or any other CL is just taking shots in the dark.
This is a good place with good people. We just need to talk to each other more. I'd like that to be on this board to give others a chance to see the good folks that are here. But if you have a problem with someone please talk to them and work it out. Call them up or arrange to meet.
If you'd like to see things go a different direction please post. And keep posting it. I'll do what I can to make it work. I have some ideas but if no one is there they don't do any good.
Happyjack though I don't know you that well I can tell you are doing your best to make this chapter thrive and I think I speak for most (i say most because I am still not sure who is mad at who and why) when I say I don't want to see you leave as CL. I think you joined a couple of months before I left to get my life in order and before I left I could tell that you were going to be a great member. The problem is is that I am finding it hard to be active in the chapter if no one else is. I used to post several times a day back then because there were also several other people posting. Like said before I am not sure who is mad at who but lets pull it together and work things out and make the kansas chapter the best again. I have a little more free time now than I did before and I am willing to help in every way I can to help get this chapter back to what it was.
Jeremy, things eb and flow in every organization and people in groups tend to come and go. It is up to those of us that come here to keep things going if that is what we want.
I enjoy the contacts I've made over the years here at FTE and the KS chapter. I'll continue to be involved, but I'm not often able to attend g2g's. I do as time and resources allow. Part of what keeps a chapter going on this board is posting interesting threads that other can join in on. Just look at the response your thread has generated.
It's sad to see the chapter fall as it has. This is where I met 90% of the people I consider good friends and to see it all going down hill sucks. With anyluck the ruffled feathers will settle and we can get back to the normal fun we have around here. As it stands now we still have a great chapter and a leader that is dedicated to making the chapter grow. Stay tuned, this is still the best group of guys around and we can all do our part in getting the name out to new people and make this chapter grow!!!!!
The people are just lying in wait for just the right time to pounce once again.
No really things may have slowed a little but the group is still as tough as it ever was . Summer time is usually a hard time to get going on the board with all the nice weather and outdoor activities that people do. And really the weather has been great all through the winter and spring so there has really been a lot of time to do other things vs being in the house sitting on the puter. Not to worry it will be along time before anyone sees an epitaph written for the Kansas Chapter.
Summer activities might be a thing to look at to help get something big rolling. I mean that with gas prices the way they are and everyone busy, trying to get out and drive a hundred or so miles for a 2-3 hour dinner is hard to do. On the other hand a day at the lake or the park or something that gives a whole day of fun might be more tempting to plan for.
Kansas is here to stay and will always be a driving force on this site so just take a seat and grab the popcorn for when the chapter makes the next step it will be something to watch.
