I have to replace the speakers in both doors and was wondering if there are any tricks or cautions anyone can offer regarding the removal of the front door panels from a 93 Ranger. I hate when I break something while trying to figure things out.
I have a 1992 and mine was real easy to remove. I don't know if you manual or power windows but the window crank on mine has a cover that flips up to expose the screw, other than that should be pretty straight forward.
I replaced mine and all u do is remove 4 screws one in the handle. one in at the top left by the mirror, one on the lower right of the door or left depending what side, and this next one is hidden in the door crank, what u do is pop the cover off the crank and down inside is a star shaped screw head so u will need to a differnt screw driver for it. then afer all those are out lift up on the door panel and it will come right off.
Thanks for the help everyone. Now I just have to take one panel off so I can see if a 6x9 speaker will fit or if I should go with a round speaker say a 6.25" Thanks again - saved me some time and aggravation.
The speakers are 6x8"s. 5x7"s will also fit, if you so desire. I ended up custom making two brackets for components in the front, not fun.
If you listen to your music at any sort of loud level, I suggest insulating the speaker from the door (double sided tape works great, just tape and then screw, so there's no metal on metal) and fill the dead space behind the speaker with poly-fill or the like.
